Members of the Warwick Lions, Hackney Comets and Arsenal Aces cycle speedway clubs battled on the Warwick Lions track, in Hackney, September 1953, for The Battle of Britain Trophy awarded to the individual champion. This event is held annually and is sponsored by the Hackney branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), whose funds benefit from a collection made on the ground.
